Questions-

  • Why have so many Myrtle Beach Golf Courses closed recently?
Money!!!! With Real Estate values soaring some golf course owners have made large amounts of money selling their golf courses to large home builders. Since Myrtle Beach has built so many golf courses in the last 15 years. Loosing a few will hardly be noticed. We have already seen some positive results from this. A number of courses have done either partial or full renovations: River Hills , Heron Point, Indian Wells, Deer Track Toski, Sea Gull, Burning Ridge East and Crown Park. Fewer courses mean more play which means courses make more money which should result in better course conditions.
  • What is the best time of year to play golf in Myrtle Beach?
We recommend the following times of year for the following reasons. September 1 - September 30th- this is the lowest priced period of the fall season. You will need to check on aerification & over seeding schedules during this time of year however. November 1 - December 15th- The weather is great & prices are very reasonable. May 1- May 15th - Again great weather & lower prices.
  • What can my wife do while I play golf ?
Myrtle Beach has almost as many shopping complexes as golf courses. I also highly recommend visiting Brookgreen Gardens & Huntington Beach State Park. Charleston, SC is great to visit on a day trip (2 hour drive). Myrtle Beach also has many theaters which offer special daytime shows. There are hundreds of other things to do such as Ripley's Aquarium & Alligator Adventure so just bring her!
  • Why are some courses less than $50 to play & some courses over $100?
Myrtle Beach has a wide variety of courses. Some cost $12 million to build. Some cost 3 million to build. Some are 50 years old while many are brand new. I believe its all about value. A course that you play $150 to play can be a great value if it's truly world class. A course that cost $45 to play can be a can be a great value if its fun to play & in great shape.
  • I've read conflicting reviews of several courses on different internet sites, how do I know what to believe?
The internet is full of bogus information especially golf information. I recommend you base your decision on information from people who have actually played the courses recently. If you have any specific questions please call us at 1-866-513-1341 we'll be glad to help.

Things you need to know-

  • Cart Fees
Cart fees in Myrtle Beach are $19 - $25 per person! Quit whining, I just paid $36 in California, besides we include them in the price!
  • Greens
Myrtle Beach courses feature 2 basic grass varieties on their greens. The Bent grass varieties are superior putting surfaces which are known for their speed and subtle breaks. Bent grass is not very heat tolerant and can be susceptible to heat damage and disease in summer or early fall. Bermuda varieties usually have more grain to them and therefore less break than Bent grass. Bermuda, however is an excellent putting surface. During late June and early July Bermuda greens go through transition from their winter overseeding. This sometimes the causes the greens to be thin or a bit bumpy. Overall I have found the greens in Myrtle Beach to be excellent. After all with so much competition who can afford to have bad greens.
  • Replays
Many courses offer same day replays for a discounted fee, however they will not make your tee times in advance. If you are determined to play a second round on a given day go ahead and make your tee times in advance many courses have special PM rates.
  • Walking is not allowed at most courses
Some courses do allow walking on a limited basis. If you are coming during October, November, February, March or April or May forget it.
  • Soft Spikes are required
    At most (90%) courses.
  • Buy your golf clubs here!
You will save big bucks! Martin's features the worlds largest golf store.
  • Surcharges
When buying a golf package some courses are included and some courses have an additional surcharge. The price of the course is not necessarily an indication of how good the course is.
  • Airline Service
YES! Myrtle Beach Trips offers the best deal on airfare. Call 1-866-513-1341 to book your flight.

Things to Avoid-
While the vast majority of people who visit Myrtle Beach have a great experience there are a number of simple things you can do to make you vacation trouble free.

  • Recently aerified or over seeded greens- In the months of February, June, August, September and October it is best to inquire as to when the courses you want to play are aerifying or over seeding.
